There are four training modules that coaches must complete before participating in youth team activities. These support player safety and compliance with US Youth Soccer policies.
The first three modules are accessed via your GotSport Login:
1: SafeSport Certification
A federally required abuse‑prevention course for all youth sports volunteers.
Must be renewed annually via a refresher course.
2: Risk Management & Background Check
A state‑required safety screening that verifies an adult’s eligibility to work with youth players.
Must be renewed annually.
3: Concussion Training
A short online course covering concussion recognition and response.
Must be renewed annually.
The fourth module is accessed via the U.S. Soccer Learning Center portal:
4: USYS Grassroots Coaching Course
Coaches must log in using the same email used for GotSport.
Coursework must be completed in one of the following formats:
Blended Course
2‑hour virtual classroom session
2‑hour in‑person field session
Both sessions must occur within 7 days of each other
Traditional In‑Person Course
2 hours classroom (in‑person)
2 hours field session
Classroom session must occur within 2–3 days of the field session
No renewal is needed; this is valid indefinitely.
